Position Title: Head of Medical Science Liaison Team (JO#2109-5647)

Territory: US Various

The Head of the Medical Science Liaisons Team is a key field-based scientific resource for clinicians, academic institutions, and professional organizations. They are a leader within the greater Medical Affairs team. 
S/he will be familiar with current best practices of post-transplant patient management, utilizing expertise in transplant patient care and the use of laboratory tests in patient management to provide ongoing education, training, and leadership for the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs). Provide ongoing education, training, and leadership. Collaborate with the Medical Director to assign projects to the MSL team. 
  • Develop strong and productive working relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) in the field of transplantation
  • Help analyze, interpret, and clarify test results in conjunction with other clinical data.
  • Provide on-site clinical support at transplant centers through oral presentations, test result data reviews, and interactive resolution of clinician queries.
  • Assist new product development teams in defining unmet needs, product performance requirements, and launch plans.
  • Provide clinical support for Customer Service inquiries and complaints.
  • Participate in Medical Advisory Board meetings with KOLs.
  • Participate in Clinical Workshop meetings with KOLs.
  • Support company initiatives at clinical and scientific meetings.
  • Function as a clinical liaison and resource to payer and insurance groups.
  • Support Clinical Operations as needs with field support at transplant centers participating in company-sponsored trials.
  • Travel nationally, up to 70%.

Qualifications (Education & Experience)

  • PharmD, PhD, or MD. Healthcare professional with relevant clinical sciences knowledge in (kidney and heart preferred). Organ transplantation experience considered.
  • Experienced leader with 3-5 years of managing direct reports and building teams.
  • Prior experience in MSL role required and the introduction of new clinical laboratory tests preferred.
  • Portfolio of presentations and publications.
  • Available clinical data, interpret clinical scenarios and communicate diagnostic and management issues in transplant recipients.
  • Experience in establishing strong, collaborative working relationships with clinicians.
  • Experience in establishing strong, collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholder functions (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, R&D) and external customers.
  • Knowledge of molecular biology and immunology.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and collaborative work style.
