Position Title: Director of Strategic Programs, Remote — JO-2203-5749

Therapeutic Area: Gastrointestinal

The Director of Strategic Programs supports the GI Medical Affairs team. The Director manages and coordinates advisory boards, development of advisory presentation content, prepares advisory board summaries and distributes them to internal/external stakeholders, manages the external Speaker’s Bureau, provides MSL and Area Manager training content advice and development, and performs duties in a defined territory.  

The Director also builds and maintains a comprehensive understanding of customer needs and field training and support. The Director works autonomously within the Medical Affairs department, reporting to the Vice President of Medical Affairs. S/he also works closely with the commercial sales team. Support at National and Regional meetings will be expected as well as corporate presentations and responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and maintain long-term collaborative relationships with opinion leaders in their region.
  • Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in disease state areas.
  • Develop, manage, create an advisory program SOP.
  • Work with the conference planner to plan and execute advisory programs.
  • Prepare goals and objectives for each advisory board and ensure all materials are developed and all presenters are aware of the goals.
  • Prepare meeting reports following each advisory meeting to be sent to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and implement scientific presentations both locally and nationally.
  • Travel to regional and national advisory programs.
  • Coordinate Speakers Bureau (Speaker training, recruitment, and maintenance).
  • Ensure timely updates to the speaker slide deck and speaker retraining.
  • Adhere to corporate SOPs with legal and regulatory guidelines governing scientific interactions with physicians and healthcare professionals.
  • Embrace and demonstrate the Company’s culture of integrity, focused execution, dedication to personal performance, and teamwork.
  • Work with conference planning on CME and product theater programs.

Qualifications (Education & Experience)

  • Advanced degree including, but not limited to, MD, PhD, PharmD, RPh or equivalent experience.
  • GI experience preferred.
  • Experience with advisory boards and speaker development.
  • Rare disease experience is an added benefit.
  • Ability to travel frequently with overnight stays.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter and autonomous experience of working in a start-up environment.
  • High level of scientific and clinical acumen.
  • Understanding of regulatory framework and compliance in interacting with the medical community.
